Freeform crochet with Prudence Mapstone

On the weekend our members enjoyed an inspiring workshop with Prudence Mapstone.

Prudence has kindly loaned a collaborated yarn bombing work to our project. Thanks Prudence.

We learned many new stitches, layout design and how to fit and sew scrumbles together. Even though it was hot we kept crocheting and had lots of fun.

The trees in Mudgeeraba are going to look wonderful.

Felting fun

Our members had lots of fun felting a group project. Many thanks to Joan, Judith and Karen for dyeing the fibre wonderful colours. Our members joined in to lay out the fibres and embellish the colourful creation, followed by lots of splodging, laughter, pressing and chanting, giggles, rolling and throwing and getting wet.

Of course the felted fabric looks great and will be made into bookmarks next week.

Crafty things

A lot of our members have been creating many different projects. Weaving from the recent workshop with Kay Faulkner, felting and knitting Christmas gifts and a beautiful crochet spiral blanket.img_0065

Yarn Bombing Mudgeeraba

Today the Village Green at Mudgeeraba is a brighter and more cheerful park. We Yarn Bombed it. The trees the woodchopper statue, the stage and a few poles in front of the Memorial hall. So come down to Mudgeeraba and have a look. It is all for the d’Arcy Doyle Art Awards in the Mudgeeraba Memorial Hall, open now until the 10 July.

What fun we had, everyone was curious to what was happening and all the passing motorists gave friendly toots.

Dragon Spinning

So this happened at the Mudgeeraba Show on Sunday.

A dragon cruised by and surprised the verandah spinners, especially Deborah, when it performed a “butt rub” stripper style, on her!!!!  It was hilarious, Janny was beside herself – it crept over and “roared” at her.

Crochet,spin & weave

Another busy club day with Carlene teaching a crochet scrumble class and everyone else up to their usual antics. Thanks for the class Carlene we all enjoyed it. Meanwhile John showed off his fabulous woven scarves, Carol F showed us her bunnies and other members were busy doing crafty things. We all drooled at the lovely new fibres, silks, wool etc in the shop.
