The judging for the Mudgeeraba show took place on Wednesday. It is a very serious business but the judge and our stewards had time to have fun.
This year’s Mudgeeraba show is on the 24 and 25 of June at the Mudgeeraba Showground. Here are our lovely show stewards getting all the entries ready for the Spinning Weaving and Felting section. All entries will be on display in the Arts and Crafts Pavilion during the show. Our group is also demonstrating spinning and weaving in the pavilion, so drop by and see us, we will even have handmade crafts for sale.
Due to the severe weather and local flooding our annual spinning camp at Bornhoffen has been postponed.
Everyone please stay safe and stay indoors. Our thoughts are with those effected by the flooding.
Recently Samantha Morris from Blank magazine visited our group. Samantha chatted with members and took photos. The great story is now published in the September edition of Blank magazine. You can pick up a free copy at various coffee shops around the Gold Coast.
You can view the magazine on line for heaps more photos go to
You can then follow the link to the story on our Yarn Bombing.
At the show our group set up some samplett looms, for people to weave on.
This proved to be very popular with children, having fun while learning to weave on a simple loom. One young lad, Anthony Pantano spent over an hour weaving away. His sidlings and cousins came and went, but Anthony was determined to finish the scarf.
What a great job he did, and he got to take the scarf with him.
This year we had a lovely display in the arts and crafts dome. Many members entered their beautiful craft in spinning, weaving and felting. They were rewarded with some great prizes. Congratulations to all who entered.
Many members demonstrated spinning and weaving over the show weekend and we had lots of interest from the public, especially children who had a great time weaving on the samplett looms.
Here are some photos of our display.
